It’s not. It’s really, really not. It’s 76 sweaty degrees in Florida today. It’s gross. My only consolation is that the pelicans fishing in the bay this morning made a lovely sight.
Last year this time, I wrote a post called “All I Want for Christmas is a Ghost,” which I never got . . . at least not from my old German house. This year, all I want is some cold weather . . . which I’m not getting from Florida. So I’m packing up for a few days to fly off to cooler climes. I’ll post travel photos at some point, once I’m back.
Until then, I don’t want this space to fall fallow, so I am going to re-run my two part ghost story from last Christmas in the next few days. Don’t think of it as a cheap way to cheat as a blogger; think of it as airing a Christmas classic during the season. (Just humor me on this.)
Cheers

Your post came as a surprise to me. As we are freezing in sub zero temperatures, you have the desire to travel to colder climes. Well, perhaps you think it is impossible to capture the Christmas spirit when it remains so warm in Florida. Merry Christmas to you, wherever you will be!
Well, I’m headed to Germany in a couple of days, so I’m headed into colder weather– but not sub-zero, thank goodness! (The northern and western U.S. got plenty of cold and snow these past few days, but it didn’t come our direction.) I really do have trouble capturing the Christmas spirit without at least a small chill– my mind just can’t get around it if my senses don’t feel it, I guess.
Merry Christmas to you and your family also!
I know what you mean. Though it was many years and countries ago, I never got over the yearning for snow, with memories of the few marvellous “real” Christmases (Christmasses?) I enjoyed in Vienna. (Moscow doesn’t count ’cause the spirit of the season just wasn’t there 🙂 ) Have a wonderful trip and holiday!
Ooh, Christmas in Vienna sounds incredible. Spent time in Salzburg last Christmas, and it was magnificent!
I think anywhere in Austria or Germany would be lovely 🙂
Christmas trees, Christmas markets, colder weather, and some snow – Germany is the right destination for you.
enjoy your trip!:) and the cold!:)
Thanks. Will do!
I hope you manage to find some cold! 😉 It’s weirdly temperate here in London, I’m hoping for a sudden cold snap over Xmas though…
Falling snow is always good for the soul. I hope you get your holiday chill. Cheers!
